Voices Inside My Head

b+ 2016
I am taking a class on nutrition right now...it seems that my blood sugar is going up a little each year. My doctor suggested that I go because she knows that I think I know everything and doesn't have the time to argue with me.

I thought I would hate going to school. But, as it turns out, I kind of like it! For one thing I am glad that I am as healthy as I am. And the instructor is good and asks us some very interesting questions not related to eating. She has me thinking that what goes on inside of our head has as much to do with our general health as a lot of the food choices we make. Interesting huh?

So the other day she asked me to pay attention to what effect walking has on my writing. Could there possibly be a cause and effect between being VERY active and how my brain works. Maybe.

For many years I woke in the morning with the first sentence of a story running through my mind. I had no idea where the story would go and I never found out because life got in the way. Now I awake clear headed and there is no sentence at all. But, if occasionally there is a sentence, I simply sit at my computer and write. I love that part of my life.

But as I walk, I find solutions and make decisions and remember what I thought I had lost. The very act of walking fast and running out of breath frees my mind up to let all the drawers open. Things come tumbling out I thought I would never remember and I return to my house with enthusiasm for the rest of my day.

On a recent walk I decided that I would plant herbs in our new empty bed in the front. It also became clear to me that all that food planning could be a lot simpler that I originally thought. I have cleaned cupboards of clutter and am letting a lot of stuff go. It is evident to me that old spices are never going to be used and one patterned napkin is of no use.

But best of all is have discovery that I actually like to walk every day possible. Each time I go out I am surprised at what I find both in the world and inside my brain.

So yes, there are voices inside of my head but they are mine and I am working on one problem while solving another. I like that a lot.

How old will you be when you quit climbing trees?

How old will you be when you quit doing dangerous things?  I ask because a friend told me the other day that she would not get up off the floor without help.  She is in her 50's.  I scolded her a little! I think the inability to help ourselves is as dangerous as climbing trees. And I know that you can get up off the floor when you are very old.  The trouble is not that you can't do it but that you forget how.  We will forget how to turn over in bed or how to look under the bed for monters.  Although all those are easy tasks if you stay in practice, even riding a bicycle can be a challenge if you haven't actually been on one for several years.  I am staying in practice because I personally don't like monsters under my bed.

Curves has a program for exercise that will wake up you muscles...or at least that is what happened for me.  I suppose yoga or any exercise will do the same.  Then get down on the floor and figure it out.  I am including a YouTube video that shows not only how to get up off the floor but also how to roll over.  Simple?  Well, that is up to you.  I personally don't want to be part of a commercial talking about how I could not get up off the floor.  How about you?

Oh, and about climbing tree...just don't do that please.  You could get hurt...I'm just saying!  :)

Be well.

Retire in Style...COOL!!! Hearing Aids and Skinny Necks!!!!

Cool Hearing Aids
These are called Vibe and are being sold by Seimens.  Take a look at these!

Who knew???

I am always amazed at what I find when I begin searching around on the web.  I live part of each year in a 55+ RV park.  Hearing aids are just a part of survival around here.  We all sport plastic gadgets behind our ears with another ugly gadget inside our ear.  UGH!!!  These devices just scream I am oldoldoldoldold!!!  Because of the wonderful boomer generation coming down the pike, we are seeing wonderful style choices that we have never seen before.  Hearing aids are only the tip of the iceberg.

Neckline Slimmer!
Below pictures of Carole before and after.

Have you seen the Neck Slimmer ad?   (Compare this link with the Amazon ad above.  I was amazed at the difference in price.)  The first time I saw it introduced on TV several month ago I was so tempted to buy one.  But I passed it up in favor of trying to do some exercises myself.  Today I was talking to a friend.  She was on the way to the gym and I commented on how slim her face looked...had she lost weight?  Not at all...she claims to be heavier than she has ever been.  How did her face look so slim?  Well, she bought the Neckline Slimmer device last summer and has used it faithfully ever since.  WOW!!!

How do I look?

No matter how old or young we are we worry about our personal appearance...in fact I really do believe that our health is in some way related to our self image and if we feel good about ourselves we are healthier.

Just a thought!
