Do Your Eye's Feel Naked

Note: I always wear the mask in public because it protects YOU from me. I hope you will do the same to keep me safe.

This bit about wearing a mask is just plain weird. I have traveled to the Middle East where women wear "veils" when they are in public. In many of those cultures woman have always covered their face.

I have noticed that a woman's beauty cannot be hidden even in those circumstances. Their beauty remains in their eyes and their elegant hands. I think that in many ways those veils not only protected them from the sun but also from blowing wind as well as too much attention. While the veil in itself is lovely, the eyes that appear above the cover are simply gorgeous.

So, when I began wearing a mask in public all of the time, I began to see why those women valued the appearance of their eyes.

It is a loss of identity that bothers me. Learning to smile with our eyes and a head position takes training and attention. In fact, even my voice is muffled. It is as though humans as we know them are invisible.

How does wearing a mask make you feel? Do you feel safer or do you feel smothered?

The Year of "UNFORESEEN"

The unforeseen Oregon fires
very near to our world!

I have tomorrow on my mind. Are you depressed today and maybe what might happen tomorrow?

We spend a lot of our time thinking about what might be in relationship to what has already happened. In 2020 we have endured a lot and for many people that seem to have a perfectly wonderful life a cloud had descended over the world and most don't know what to do.

Depression is inexplicable...what is that feeling that hangs over ones whole life for no reason that anyone can understand. I don't know...for women it can be a stage in life or chemical imbalance or even a genetic fault of some kind. I am sorry to say but the fact is knowing why does not make it better.

However, there are medication that can be taken if the cause is perpetually present and not a change in lifestyle or damage that can be repaired. I told a doctor many years ago that we all have unforeseen problems. This year of 2020 is the perfect example don't you think? For the unforeseen things, it is not if but when...in the end, it is how we deal with those issues that matters. Medication can help a person emerge and eventually feel okay.

We may define this year as the "unforeseen" year.

I am at the place where I do not allow people to tell me what has gone wrong for them this year because somewhere inside of my head I think it might be contagious! Not true but still, it might be.

So, what about tomorrow? I have come to believe that a bright tomorrow is about the little things to we look forward to.

In my case, it is my cup of coffee...in bed in the morning. It is about getting to read before bed at night. It is about a new book or a wonderful TV show. It is about talking to my family. I look forward to all of those things and a tiny bit of joy leaps into my heart when I simply look forward.

So, when you lay your head on your pillow tonight, remember, it is the small things that make the difference. Keep a list of the good things. They will get you through!

Making it Up!

See the deal is I am 78 years old...I say that a lot because wrapping my mind around the reality of being a little bit old is just not happening. There you have it.

My husband was talking about a study he had read about on how people react to their age. It was a long study of a small group of people that are all dead now. Everyone of those people were content to let go but worried about their children being sad..all but one.

That one man that  I could relate to was not ready to die at 95 because he had stuff to do! He was a creative person that still had not lost the desire and will to create. I liked that a lot.

I suppose living a very long life can be boring in some ways. How many times do you get up in the morning and repeat the same routine day after day and finally think ENOUGH! I understand.

Still, if there is anything we can do to get us over the hump, I am very interested...not just for myself but for you too. That is where Kathy Gottberg comes in. She and her husband are very conscious of what there 365 days a year in our life is like and write a blog called Smart Living 365. Today they were launching a new VLOG on YouTube that captured my attention. The subject was the new year and what we can do to make 2020 a good year for you and me.

The first section was about making it up. Kathy pointed out that we get to make our life up each and every day. We get to decide what our attitudes will be. Life will, in fact, turn out the way you predict it will. I have always believed that in our lives it is not what happens but how you respond to that "what".

We also get to decide what to do each day...escaping the routine and even the boredom. Think about it. What if you just went to the library instead of sitting down at your computer and maybe even stopped in to a coffee house and had a coffee...at a table and talked to other people. Life is interesting is you take a look around.

Making it up was only the beginning. And there was so much more. I really don't want to tell it all. Please go over and listen...you will not regret it. After all, if we do not embrace change and challenges, our ship is sunk.

Thank you Kathy.

What kind of a day did you create for yourself today?
