I just finished reading the most interesting and convoluted mystery book ever. Magpie Murders, is a novel written by best selling author Anthony Horowitz. It called my name when it was placed in my Library Exchange located in my front yard. It was described on the jacket of the book as "a thinking mystery reader's book". I was not disappointed.I bought into the mystery and was nearing the solution. I could not stop reading. Then the whole thing came to a screeching halt. That is why at the end of section 5, chapter 1 and chapter 2, I looked up at my husband in shock and cried, "Oh no!" (I can't tell you why...it would ruin the whole book.)
I finished the book last night. A story within a story that invites you into finding a solution for a murder, this book was one that I did not want to lay down and I really didn't want it to be over with. It is a must read.
But better yet, you really need to check out the author's biography. It is in an of itself a "page turner".

Anthony Horowitz's books sound interesting. I am reading The Matchmaker of Pergord by Alice Stuart.

DeleteOh good! I just picked up this book from the library so very glad to hear that it is good. I'm currently reading Edison and the Rise of Innovation which it once a book about technology and research as well as a mini-biogrophy.

DeleteThanks for the recommendation. I will put that on my list of books I want to read. I read few fiction books. I am mostly into non-fiction but I do occasionally find an author that I love and their books become my must reads. I love Sue Grafton and have read all the mysteries in her series which abruptly ended when she passed away last year. I have found a new series by Joann Fluke which I enjoy and I am always open to enthusiastic recommendations from friends.

DeleteI listened to it and really enjoyed it because like you say there is a turn. I remember weeding and listening and sayin, "I didn't see that!" Appropriate for the times I am just finishing up listening to 'The Kremlin Conspiracy' and reading 'Before we were yours'.
ReplyDeleteMy sight is not as good as it once was so listening to the stories has it's appeal. But it seems I still like the feel of a book and read a paper version as often as I can. Kindle is the next when I am traveling. But read I will until I cannot see.
