Inside the RV Resort Life Style...retirement living

note: This is an older post but it gives you a glimpse into everyday life in our RV resort in Tucson, AZ. Rincon Country East has been our home for 4 years now. This particular park model has since sold to a lady in her 80's. We are all healthy and happy...still! The ages of our neighbors range from low 50's to upper 80's. It is a very good and interesting mix. All the phone numbers posted here are still active.

Our Current Park Model

I am in the dessert...back in the Waiting Room for Heaven. We are early this years so we are waiting patiently for the rest of the people to arrive. Some will be along soon, some are not well enough to come and some are already here. We love the serenity of this place. We are never lonely, we are never wanting for things to do and our friends are so close that we can just walk across the street to visit.

We have moved to a new home here. A home came up for sale at the end of our street with a view of the mountains and just across the street from the tennis courts and the pickle ball courts. We have set up a table on the east side of the home so we can eat breakfast in the early morning sun and have a cocktail in the shade in the after noon. It is very warm now...temps in the 90's during the day but they drop to 80 by 5:00. Perfect.

I have not been blogging so much. It has been a good break for me. Blogging can go from being an outlet to being an obsession...have you noticed? I needed to break the cycle and I will be back as soon as we move the computer down the street and find a home for it in the bedroom.

<-Theadora, the flamingo with lights inside and pink paint on the outside has moved with us. We love her. She has lived at several homes and now she is ours. The other residents are sure we are nuts...was there any question. :)

So that is where we are. Tucson, AZ. Our park model will be for sale...these little doll houses are so affordable that middle class residents use them as second homes and those older folks on Social Security can afford a nice year round home in a secure gated community. While part of the park is reserved for large motor homes a large portion of the resort is occupied by park models. We buy the home and then pay monthly rent to the owner of the park. We have a beautiful pool, a large recreation auditorium where dance with live music are held. There is a laundry and a coffee/mail room with residents gather morning and after noon for a visit with friends. We range in age from mid-fifties to over ninety. There is something and someone for everyone.

Several models are for rent in this resort. I pinch myself every day...we are so lucky.

Five Little Ducks...stories played out!

The children's song about the little ducks leaving the nest to fly away has always been one of my favorites. Every mother has seen their babies fly away and rejoiced. Life comes full circle. Animals live that same cycle. Babies grow up. Birds leave the nest. Life goes on. So when the three ducks show up every year near my patio I am not surprised. But I am puzzled that it always seems to be the same three. Something just doesn't seem right. It appears the one did not fly away at all. Five little ducks Went out to play Over the hills and far away. The mommy duck went "quack, quack quack," Four little ducks came swimming back... And then Three Two and One. A drake, a female duck (a hen) and a not quite a drake but still not a hen gather here on the 5th green of the golf course. She leads and the other two follow along obediently. How to be a 12 Month Snow Bird

Vacation Rental in Mexico I live around snowbirds 6 months of the year. I have heard those people say that they all want to live the "snowbird" lifestyle when they go home. But it just is not possible. They are isolated and cold. Social activities with friends and beautiful weather are greatly missed when they return to the realities of their "real" life. One couple I visited with lately returned to Florida this morning where they own a home. The woman is a nurse and works in the summer. They are not going home until May this year. It is too cold in Michigan in the spring so they are hoping to extend their good weather season by simply staying away. Besides that they love their Florida lifestyle a lot. Last week I visited with a woman that lives the snowbird lifestyle year around. No going home to the Midwest in the spring. They essentially vacation 12 month out of the year. And I thought their solution for avoiding unpleasant weather and keeping their lifestyle in...

If You Build It, They Will Come...Maybe!

It all began with a antique window in front of a local shop. It had been painted yellow, the glass was loose and all of the hinges and latches were gone. My old friend Betty would have approved...she would tell me it was just broken enough and damaged enough for me to drag it home. When my dear husband saw it, he wondered what he was meant to do with it. Imagine his surprise when he was presented with the plan to build a small neighborhood library exchange. It wasn't the first time he had heard me ask "How hard could it be?" Now it is six weeks later and we mounted the darling little library exchange on two posts in our front yard. I love it. Now the question is, will they come or has the time passed when people actually read something made of paper? Our association president stopped by and admired the box but left after telling me that he only read books on his Kindle. We will see. Would you bring a book and take a book? b+
